Why Did China Destroy Its Satellite by a Ground-Based Ballistic Missile?

Frankly, Chinese purpose is to warn U.S. and Taiwan. Also, Chinese government wants the U.S. to think twice before the U.S. decides to help Taiwan in case of there is a war goes out between the mainland China and Taiwan.
